Mike Mendoza joined the baseball coaching staff as the Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2024. Mendoza's first season will be in 2024-25.
Before coming to TWU, Mendoza spent five seasons as an assistant coach for the baseball program at Southeastern University. During his five seasons with the Fire, Mendoza was an integral part of recruiting that led to the Fire qualifying for the Avista-NAIA World Series from 2021- 2024 and winning the NAIA Championship in 2022. Following the 2021 season, Mendoza was named the NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Prior to his time at Southeastern, Mendoza spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Faulkner University. Faulkner appeared in the Avista-NAIA World Series each of the four years of Mendoza's tenure with the Eagles. Mendoza began his coaching career at Iowa Wesleyan (2013) and was an assistant coach at Ashford University (2014, 15).
Mendoza is a native of San Gabriel, California, and played his collegiate career at Glendale Community College and Iowa Wesleyan University. During his playing career, he was named the WSC Player of the Year and a CCCAA All American while at Glendale Community College and the MCC Player of the Year and an NAIA All-American while at Iowa Wesleyan University.
Before beginning his coaching career, Mendoza played two seasons of professional baseball in the Frontier and Pecos Leagues.
Mike is married to his wife Mary Celeste Mendoza and has one son, Rhys.
