ELIZABETHTON, Tenn.- The men's soccer team picked up their first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win of the season on Wednesday. The Bulldogs beat the Milligan University Buffaloes 4-1 on the road.
Tennessee Wesleyan scored the majority of their goals in the first half of play. Nicko Bellot put the first goal in the net, connecting with a Jake Fisher pass in the seventh minute of the game to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. In the 32nd minute, Logan Thompson took a pass from Robin Vezinhet and was able to sneak it past the opposing keeper to increase the team's lead to two goals. Vezinhet kept the momentum for the team, scoring three minutes later to give the team a commanding 3-0 lead. Milligan was able to score a few minutes later, making the score 3-1 at halftime.
In the second half, TWU defended 13 shot attempts by the Buffaloes in their attempt to pull closer. While the opponents did not score again, Thompson scored for a second time in the game, giving the Bulldogs a 4-1 advantage with 16 minutes remaining in the game.
Astolfi Ange finished with six saves in the net.
Tennessee Wesleyan (2-3, 1-1 AAC) will be back in action on Saturday when they host Johnson University. The home conference game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
