
No. 2 Men's Tennis Bounce No. 19 Union Commonwealth
ATHENS, Tenn.- The second-ranked men's tennis team was victorious in a sweeping fashion on Tuesday. The team beat the No. 19 Union Commonwealth University Bulldogs 7-0 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match.
Agustin Gaia, Maceo Simpson, Zoilo Rios, and David Leon gave the team the doubles point. Gaia and Simpson won the No. 1 doubles 6-1 while Rios and Leon took the No. 3 doubles match 6-0.
The remaining points in the sweep came from Octavio Volpi winning the No. 1 singles 6-2, 7-5, Juan Carlos Garcia winning the No. 2 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, Patricio Gallegos taking the No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2, Leon winning the No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-4, Asier Pascual winning the No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-2, and Gaia winning the No. 6 singles 6-1, 7-5.
The win moved the Bulldogs' record to 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the AAC. The team goes on the road for their next conference match against Montreat College on Thursday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m.
