Volleyball Drops Match Against Johnson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The volleyball team took a short trip up the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match on Tuesday. The team fell to the Johnson University Lady Royals 3-0. 

The first two sets were tough for the Lady Bulldogs as the offense was not able to find a rhythm. The opponents won the first set 25-14 and the second set 25-12.

The third set saw a different story. Tennessee Wesleyan came out strong, pushing Johnson to the limit before narrowly falling 27-25. TWU had impressive moments throughout, led by key performances from Alley Hibdon and Jia Weathersby, who contributed crucial kills. The Lady Bulldogs capitalized on Johnson's errors, blocking effectively and maintaining pressure, leading 16-13 at one point in the set. TWU fought resiliently, tying the set at 23-23 with standout plays from Shante Smith, but Johnson edged out the win in the final points to win the match 3-0.

Smith and Hibdon each had five kills in the match. ​

The schedule takes the Lady Bulldogs (6-14, 3-7) to Kentucky Christian University on Friday for an AAC match. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
