
Women's Tennis Advances to NAIA Tournament Semifinals for Second Time in Program History
MOBILE, Ala.- The women's tennis team is going to the semifinals of the 2025 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament after their win on Thursday. No. 12 seed TWU beat No. 13 seed Xavier University of Louisiana 4-1 to advance to the Round of Four for the second time in program history.
With a forfeiture in the No. 3 doubles match, the win in the No. 2 doubles match helped the Lady Bulldogs win the doubles point. Mercedes Chasset and Ivet Prat won the No. 2 doubles match 6-1.
Wins in the No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles matches helped TWU complete the upset. Chasset won the No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-5, and Honoka Tsuji won the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-4. A forfeit in the No. 6 singles gave Paula Cigarran the No. 6 singles point and the team the match win.
The Lady Bulldogs (17-4) will play in the semifinals of the NAIA National Tournament for the second time in program history. The team will face No. 1 seed Keiser University for a trip to the national title match at 10:00 a.m. ET on Friday.
