Austin Hensley joined the athletic training staff as an assistant athletic trainer at Tennessee Wesleyan in July of 2024. Hensley is entering his second year of athletic training and is eager to join TWU for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Hensley attended Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn. for his undergrad, where he interned with both TTU athletics and area high schools. He interned each summer with the football program at Vanderbilt University. In the Spring of 2021, he graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Pre-Athletic Training Emphasis. 

He went on to obtain his Master of Science in Athletic Training at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. during which he completed an immersion as a student athletic trainer with Vanderbilt University’s Women’s Lacrosse.  

After graduating in the Spring of 2023 with his Master of Science in Athletic Training and passing his boards to become certified, he returned to his hometown of Nashville, Tenn. to join the Sports Medicine team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Hensley enjoyed his time working as an outreach athletic trainer for Metro Nashville public high schools, mainly Stratford STEM Magnet School. 

He is excited to return to southeast Tennessee and join the Bulldog athletics team. 

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and a licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Tennessee.
