Athletic Training

Welcome to Tennessee Wesleyan University Sports Medicine!

The Tennessee Wesleyan University Sports Medicine staff consists of three full-time certified athletic trainers that use their skills and knowledge to prevent, evaluate, treat, rehabilitate, and perform functional exams on athletic injuries incurred by student-athletes during practices and games.

Our BOC-certified athletic trainers work under the auspices of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) and the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society (TATS). Our staff works in partnership with Sweetwater Hospital Association and Dr. Christopher Bowman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon. As the Team Physician, Dr. Bowman and his team help oversee the care and management of athletic injuries, as well as perform surgical procedures and assist with athletic physicals. TWU Sports Medicine also partners with Dr. Sam Olsen, MD, an internist specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Olsen and his associates assist with yearly athletic physicals.

The TWU Sports Medicine Staff works in conjunction with TWU campus health services to ensure the health and well-being of all student-athletes, as well.

The athletic training facility at Tennessee Wesleyan University provides care for all injured TWU student-athletes during their training and competition.  We are located on the outside lower level of James L. Robb Gymnasium.
