Bio

Sports: Men's Soccer, Baseball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Track & Field

Ryan Murphy begins his fifth year with Tennessee Wesleyan in the 2023-2024 season. Murphy also teaches in the Health and Human Performance Department at TWU. 

The Erie, Pennsylvania native earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2014. In 2016, Murphy received a Master of Athletic Training degree from Gannon University. During his time at Gannon, Murphy gained clinical experiences with NCAA Division II football, men's soccer, and water polo. 

After completing his master's, Murphy interned at Southern Wesleyan University, an NCAA Division II school in Central, South Carolina. While at Southern Wesleyan, Murphy's primary responsibilities were baseball, men's and women's soccer, and basketball while also sharing responsibilities for eighteen total sports.

Prior to joining Tennessee Wesleyan, Murphy worked at Benchmark Physical Therapy. While with the company, Murphy worked with the Knoxville Icebears and both Meigs County High School and Cleveland Middle School.

Murphy is a Strength and Conditioning Certified Specialist (CSCS) and holds a certification in Técnica Gavilán IASTM, Corrective Exercise Specialization, and is a certified Nutrition Coach. Murphy has also earned a certificate in Integrative Dry Needling.
