Alcala Named to NAIA All-American Third Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- For the second time in her playing career, Olivia Alcala was named an All-American by the NAIA. The sophomore student-athlete was named to the 2024 NAIA Women's Tennis All-American Third Team for her play during the season. Honorees were selected by the NAIA All-America Selection Committee. Sixteen student-athletes were chosen to comprise first, second, and third teams. This is the first time the NAIA has named a third team. In 2023, Alcala became the first women's tennis player in program history to be named to the First Team.

The team knew they were going to the 2024 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament as they earned the automatic bid from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) by winning the program's first-ever AAC Tournament Title. The AAC Regular Season Champions were waiting on the announcement of the bracket for the tournament, which was announced on Tuesday by the national office.

PIKEVILLE, Ky.- The sixth-ranked women's tennis team won their sixth Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game of the season on Thursday. The team defeated the newcomers to the conference, the University of Pikeville Lady Bears 7-0.
