No. 6 Baseball Comeback Falls Short Against No. 23 Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga.- The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series featuring No. 6 baseball and the No. 23 Reinhardt University Eagles ended on Sunday with a single game. The teams played a doubleheader the previous day.

After a two-run first inning, the game went scoreless through the next five innings. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Reinhardt scored the two runs in the first inning. In the seventh inning, the hole grew larger for TWU as the opponents scored six more runs to take an 8-0 lead. The team got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning.

Carson Ford opened the inning with a double and move to third on Blake Hubble's single. Marco Martinez brought Ford home with his single. Cody McGill hit single to center field that brought Hubble across home plate. A sacrifice fly by Kruise Newman scored Martinez and McGill got to home plate from third on a wild pitch, cutting four runs into the lead at the end of the inning. The team was not able to get any more runs in the ninth inning though, falling by a final score of 11-4.

TWU (9-9, 4-5 AAC) will return to action at Athens Insurance Stadium on Friday. The team will open a three-game AAC series against Johnson University with a single game at 1:00 p.m.
