Baseball Set to Open 2024 Avista NAIA World Series on Friday

LEWISTON, Idaho- The baseball team won their seventh opening round championship, sending them to the Avista NAIA World Series for the seventh time in program history. The team went undefeated in the Kingsport Bracket to earn the trip back to the World Series, set to be played May 24-31 in Lewiston, Idaho. Tennessee Wesleyan has left Lewiston with a national championship trophy twice, once in 2012 and once in 2019. The last time the team went to the World Series, they finished as a semifinalist in 2022. This is the 67th edition of the Avista NAIA World Series. 

The Avista NAIA World Series is being played at Harris Field in Lewiston and hosted by the staff of Lewis Clark State College in conjunction with the NAIA. Seeding for the tournament was determined by the NAIA Baseball National Selection Committee (NSC). The NSC consists of one representative from each geographic area, a representative from the National Administrative Council (NAC) Postseason Selection and Ratings Committee, the president of the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association, and three at-large members. The committee evaluated teams throughout the year on various criteria. 

The Bulldogs nabbed the No. 6 seed in the World Series. Four teams the Bulldogs faced during the 2024 season also qualified for the World Series. The team will play on the first day of the series against the No. 3 seed in the World Series, the University of the Cumberlands. The two teams met in the regular season, a 9-4 win for TWU.

Hudl TV will be the official home of NAIA Baseball World Series streaming. It will broadcast all games from Lewiston, Idaho through Game 15 on Wednesday. Single-day and all-championship passes can be purchased HERE. Games on Wednesday through Friday (if necessary) will be streamed exclusively on ESPN3 and are not included in packages on Hudl TV.
