Esports Week One Report: History-Making Edition

Athens, Tenn.- It was a historic week for the athletic department at Tennessee Wesleyan. For the first time since 2015, a new sport began competition at TWU when the Esports team played their first-ever competition on Wednesday.

For the fall season, the team is competing in three different National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Starleagues: Call of Duty: Cold War, Overwatch, and Rocket League. The historic moment came on Wednesday with the team's match in Call of Duty: Cold War. The team faced Full Sail University in their opening match. The team fell in the match 3-0, but the historic moment outshined the loss.

The first week of competition concluded on Friday when the Bulldogs played their first-ever matches in Overwatch (against Converse College) and Rocket League (against Hood College).

Unfortunately, the team fell in both contests 3-0.

Up next for the team is the second week of the NACE Starleagues. On Monday, the team will take on Randolph Macon College in Rocket League and Ringling College of Art and Design in Overwatch at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, the team will face the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in Call of Duty: Cold War.
