Men's Basketball Cruises Past Knights

Athens, Tenn.- The men's basketball team played their next home game on Saturday. The team met the St. Andrews University Knights for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game in James L. Robb Gymnasium.

After the opening of the game saw a 2-2 tie after a Jonathan Webb jumper, the Bulldogs went on a run. Peyton West (four three-pointers), Webb, Elisha Mayberry, and Ray Tyler combined to score 21 of the next 23 points, giving the team a 23-4 advantage as 13:51 ticked on the clock. A three-pointer by Ty Patterson gave TWU their first lead of 20 points as the scoreboard read 26-6. West's fifth three-pointer of the game moved the lead to 29-10 and a Darius Rozier layup moved the team over the 30-point mark. A string of scoring from Cameron Montogmery, Kariden Hardrick, Emmanuel Ndambi, and Zhaelin Callahan helped the Bulldogs take a 57-29 lead into halftime.

Just like the first half, Tennessee Wesleyan continued to score in the second half. After a score by Mayberry, Webb brought the team over the 60-point mark with a layup, moving the lead to 30 on a second layup with the scoreboard reading 63-33. Montgomery scored to push the team to a 70-44 while back-to-back three-pointers by Webb and Rozier gave the team their largest lead of the game of 32 points, a 76-44 score. The comfortable margin for the Bulldogs stayed in place as a three-pointer by Patterson propelled the team over 80 points in the contest. A three-point basket by Luke Burrows moved the team ahead by 30 points while pushing the team to the 90-point barrier with the score 91-61. TWU went on to win the contest 96-68.

Montgomery and West (five three-point baskets made, career-high in points) each had 15 points. Webb (13), Patterson (13), and Callahan (career-high 12) also scored in double digits

The win moved the team to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the AAC.
