Men's Basketball Unable to Turn Tide Against Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga.- The men's basketball team went back on the road on Saturday. The team traveled to play an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game against the Reinhardt University Eagles.

Keshawn McPherson, Amauri Young, and Jay Reed helped the Bulldogs take a 7-2 lead in the beginning of the game. The lead did not last though as Kobe Pride put the game in a 9-9 tie and Kariden Hardrick gave the team an 11-9 lead. Zhaelin Callahan's layup gave the team a 13-10 lead with 12:33 remaining in the first half. As Reinhardt tied the score again, Nichaune Jones broke a 15-15 tie with a pair of free throws. A dry spell allowed the opponents to move ahead 29-19. Jones brought the deficit under single digits and scores from Pride, Ty Runyan, and McPherson brought the tem within three points wiht the scoreboard reading 32-29. Reinhardt styed ahead and went into halftime leading 38-30. 

Six minutes into the second half, layups by McPherson, Pride, and Young made the score 46-45 as the team tried to take over the lead. A minute later, Young tied the game 49-49 with a layup. Runyan put the game in another tie, this time at 51-51 while a pair of free throws by Peyton West made the score 53-53. Runyan broke the last tie with a layup to give the team a two-point lead. Reinhardt stole the momentum though, going on a 16-6 run to move ahead 69-61 with 6:38 remaining. Two minutes later, an 8-2 run ending with a Ty Hurst jumper cut the opponents' lead down to two points. TWU could not carry the momentum from the run though, and Reinhardt went on to take the game by a score of 82-73. 

Pride collected a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds while Young also finished with 12 points.

The schedule keeps the Bulldogs (1-2, 1-1 AAC) on the road for their next game. The team travels on Tuesday to face Bryan College at 7:30 p.m.
