Men's Basketball Spear Rams

ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's basketball team used a big second half to defeat the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) leaders on Monday. The team beat the Columbia International University Rams 76-59.

The game began with a fast-paced exchange, but Tennessee Wesleyan took an early edge, thanks to precision shooting from Armando Cuardado and Amauri Young, who consistently attacked the paint. Their ability to convert opportunities, coupled with a defensive rebounding, allowed Wesleyan to pull away. Notable highlights included scores by Jay Reed, Ty Hurst, Ty Runyan, Charles Neverdon, and Stratton Lovvorn. Though Columbia International remained close, the Bulldogs went into halftime leading 35-29.

The second half saw TWU dominate with increased offensive intensity. Hurst and Runyan hit big three-point baskets in the second half that helped the team widen the gap. The defense allowed the Bulldogs to keep the Rams from pulling closer as Tennessee Wesleyan cruised to the double-digit win.

Hurst led all scorers with 25 points, including 19 in the second half, while Runyan added 10 points.

The schedule takes the Bulldogs (6-10, 5-6 AAC) on the road for their next two games, beginning with Wednesday's game at Reinhardt University. The conference game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
