Men's Bowling Records Two Top Ten Finishes at Final Two MSC Events

Louisville, Ky.- The men's bowling team returned to the lanes for the first time in 2023. Over the weekend, the team competed in two different events for the Mid-South Conference (MSC). On Saturday, the team took to the lanes at the Lynne Jordan Memorial while the Bulldogs took part of the Thomas N. Burris Memorial on Sunday. Both events served as MSC events, the final two of the regular season. Each event consisted of five team games and 12 baker games.

Four games above 900, including two above 1,000, helped the Bulldogs collect 4,842 pins through the five team games. The highest team game score came in the fifth game when TWU knocked down 1,031 pins.

The baker games saw the Bulldogs add 2,499 pins to their score from the team games, giving them a total of 7,341 pins knocked down for the tournament, placing them in seventh place overall out of 25 teams. The team had the best score in baker game two (247) and baker game eight (246) while their best baker game was No. 3 (256).

Devean Littlejohn had the highest individual finish, knocking down 967 pins for a 193.4 average and 36th place.

Thomas N. Burris Memorial

In their return to the lanes on Sunday for the Thomas N. Burris Memorial, the team finished ninth in the field of 26 teams. In the five team games, the Bulldogs knocked over 5,097 pins. The team had three games over 1,000 pins knocked game. TWU added 2,423 more pins through the 12 baker games to total 7,520 pins to earn their ninth-place spot. The team's highest game in the baker games was No. 6 where they scored 245.

Jacob Watts had the highest individual finish for the Bulldogs. Watts knocked down 1,178 pins to finish in fifth place. Watts averaged 235.6 pins per game, shooting over 200 in all five games with his highest score being 257 in game 3.

Up next for the men's bowling team is the MSC Championships. The team will compete for the conference championship on Feb. 9-11 in Bowling Green, Ky.
