No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 7 Aquinas

Athens, Tenn.- The men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, concluded a four-game homestand on Thursday. The team hosted the No. 7 team in the NAIA, the Aquinas College Saints.

The first two goals of the game were scored by Aquinas. Dylan Weave removed the zero from the Bulldogs' score, cutting the deficit in half. The offense went cold for the remainder of the first quarter as the opponents scored three straight goals to lead 5-1 after the first 15 minutes.

In the second quarter, the drought remained for Tennessee Wesleyan. The offense was held to three shots in the quarter, none of which found the back of the net. Aquinas took advantage, scoring four consecutive goals to lead 9-1 at the halftime break.

Between ten shots combined by the two teams in the third quarter, only one goal was put into the net. Aquinas kept their goal streak active by scoring for the eighth straight time in the game, taking a 10-1 lead into the fourth quarter.

The drought ended for the Bulldogs 29 seconds into the fourth quarter. Robert Holekamp took a Jack Driscoll pass and found the back of the net, making the score 10-2. The deficit moved to seven goals when Wes Christian sent a ball flying into the net. The opponents scored the next two goals to break the momentum the team held. Driscoll, scoring on a Hayden Harmon assist, and Holekamp gave the team two more goals towards their score. Harmon added one more goal late in the game but the team could not complete the comeback, falling to the visitors 13-6.

Holekamp led the team with two goals while Weaver, Christian, Driscoll, and Harmon all scored one goal in the game.

The team will return to the field on the road on Saturday when they visit Montreat College. The conference contest is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
