(RV) Men's Lacrosse Wins Regular Season Finale

Athens, Tenn.- The (RV) men's lacrosse team played their final game of the regular season on Saturday. The team hosted the (RV) Columbia College Cougars in the regular season finale.

TWU raced out to a 4-0 lead to begin the game. Jaylan Steen (2), Jack Driscoll, and Jackson Lollis scored the four goals to give the team their advantage. Robert Holekamp had an assist on two of the goals. Columbia got on the board before the end of the first, making the score 4-1.

A low-scoring second quarter saw Columbia score the first two goals to cut the Bulldogs' lead to one goal. Hayden Harmon scored off a Steen pass to help Tennessee Wesleyan take a two-goal lead into halftime.

Holekamp scored the first goal of the second half 24 seconds into the third quarter to double Columbia's score. Carson Bowling followed a few minutes later, turning Steen's pass into a 7-3 lead. The quarter ended with the team exchanging goals as Wes Christian's goal off Bowling's pass gave the team an 8-4 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The momentum shifted to the Cougars to begin the fourth quarter as they scored three consecutive goals to cut the lead down to one goal. Steen scored to keep the game from being tied before Columbia scored once more. Holekamp added a goal to the team's score, helping the team win 10-8.

TWU finished the regular season with an 8-6 overall record and 4-4 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). The team turns their attention to the AAC Tournament, where they begin as the No. 5 seed and travel to face the No. 4 seed, University of the Cumberlands on Friday. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
