(RV) Men's Soccer Ties No. 15 Dalton State College

Athens, Tenn.- The men's soccer team played hosted their first ranked opponent of the season in Athens on Tuesday. The Roadrunners of Dalton State College, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA, came to town for a contest.

Tennessee Wesleyan was the first team to strike on the scoreboard. A foul just outside the box set the Bulldogs up with a great opportunity, and Wynand Wessels seized the chance by sending a ball to the lower left corner for the team's first goal. The lead grew for TWU in the 33rd minute. Cian Gantley sent a ball flying across the box which Billy Boag connected with, sending it into the goal for a 2-0 lead the team took into halftime.

The second half saw a momentum change. Dalton State got on the board with a goal three minutes into the second half. A shot by Gavin Morgan and Boag missed their mark as the team looked to extend their lead. The Bulldogs were not able to find a third goal in the contest before the opponents tied the match 2-2 with 11 minutes remaining in the game. No more goals were scored during the remaining time of regulation, ending the game in a tie, the second consecutive for Tennessee Wesleyan.

TWU (1-0-2) return to action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they host No. 20 Milligan University for their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opener. The game is set for a 3:00 p.m., kick-off.
