#21 Men's Soccer Comes From Behind to Tie Reinhardt

Athens, Tenn.- A four-game home streak ended with an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest on Wednesday for the men's soccer team. The team, off a fresh ranking of No. 21 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, hosted the Reinhardt University Eagles.

The game took a drastic turn early on. The visiting Eagles scored a quick goal 1:38 into the game to take a 1-0 advantage. The offense went to work to get back in the game. Billy Boag and Keegan Hegarty took shots that missed the mark but the next shot brought cheers for the Bulldogs. Hegarty connected with Jonah Lewis, who sent a ball into the net for the team's first goal, putting the game into a 1-1 tie. Unfortunately for TWU, Reinhardt added another goal to their tally a few minutes later, and shots by Lewis Menga or Tyriq Gordon did not find the net, making the score 2-1 at the halftime break.

The second half was dominated by defense through the first 20 minutes as the two teams combined for two corner kicks and two shots. One of the shots came off a Boag corner kick which saw Edon Mehana hit a header shot that flew high. The other shot was by Wynand Wessels, whose shot went wide. The game changed in the 76th minute. Lewis scored his second goal of the game off a Cian Gantley assist, tying the game 2-2. Neither team could find the game-winning shot, forcing the game to end in a 2-2.

This marked the second consecutive game Lewis scored two goals in a game.

The tie moved the team's record to 2-0-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the AAC.
