COLUMBIA, S.C.- The (RV) men's soccer team went on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Friday. The team faced the Columbia College Koalas.
Even though the Bulldogs controlled possession through 11 shots and five corner kicks in the first half, the score remained scoreless until the 39th minute. In that instance, assists by Cian Gantley and Wynand Wessels helped Dave Neijenhuis score the first goal of the game. Tennessee Wesleyan went into the halftime break with a two-goal lead when Gantley scored on a Reuben Hazelby assist in the 43rd minute.
Holding the 2-0 lead, the Bulldogs added another insurance goal 13 minutes into the second half. It came off the foot of Logan Haricombe, who used an assist from Neijenhuis to make the score 3-0. The team went on to cruise to a 3-0 victory, completing their fourth consecutive conference shutout.
Michael Garrihy got the win in the net.
TWU (6-2-3, 6-0-1 AAC) stays on the road for their next AAC contest. The team will face Columbia International University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
