#23 Men's Soccer Ties #13 Union

ATHENS, Tenn.- Fresh off their new ranking, the men's soccer team hosted a big Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match on Wednesday. The team hosted the Union College Bulldogs, one of three unbeaten teams along with TWU in the standings.

In the first half, TWU was not able to find a rhythm on offense. Even though the home team took two shots in the half, the opponents forced seven corner kicks and three shots of their own. The defense stood tough as Union did not score a goal in the first 45 minutes. The shots taken by Bada Sady and Kuda Nhiwatiwa did not find their way into the net, sending the game into halftime in a scoreless tie.

The offense for Tennessee Wesleyan appeared in the second half as the team took 13 shots in the half. Those shots came from the combination of Nate Villaneuva, Dave Neijenhuis, Sifiso Ngwenya, Wynand Wessels, Luis Baldivieso, Logan Haricombe, and Sady. While the offense was in attack, neither team was able to find the back of the net, ending the game between two of the top teams in the standings in a scoreless tie.

Michael Garrihy had four saves in the net.

TWU (8-2-4, 8-0-2 AAC) stays on the road for another big conference contest. The team faces the other unbeaten team in the AAC, Milligan University, on Saturday. The road game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
