#23 Men's Soccer Battles to Draw Against (RV) Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn.- The men's soccer team, ranked No. 23 in the NAIA, went on the road for a critical Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest on Saturday. Tennessee Wesleyan, one of the undefeated teams in the AAC, faced one of the two other undefeated teams in the conference, the Milligan University Buffaloes.

The battle between the two undefeated conference teams began as a defensive battle begin the two teams. The two combatants combined for seven shots in the first half. Two of those shots found their way into the net though. The first of the two occurred in the 17th minute when Milligan scored to take a 1-0 advantage. A minute later, Wynand Wessels converted a penalty kick into the game-tying goal, and the 1-1 score remained until the end of the first half.

Offense was more featured for both teams in the second half as the teams combined to take 13 shots over the remaining 45 minutes. Kuda Nhiwatiwa found paydirt in the 53rd minute, scoring on a Wessels assist to give the team a 2-1 advantage. The lead did not hold for the team though. In the 77th minute, Milligan tied the game with a goal. Neither team found a goal in the remaining time, forcing the game to end in a 2-2 tie, keeping the two teams tied at the top of the AAC standings.

Michael Garrihy finished with seven saves in the net.

Tennessee Wesleyan (8-2-5, 8-0-3 AAC) goes on the road for the final time during the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to face Reinhardt University at 5:00 p.m.
