No. 22 Men's Soccer Falls on Senior Day

ATHENS, Tenn.- The 22nd-ranked men's soccer team returned to TWU Athletic Complex on Saturday to play their final game of the regular season. Along with the game being Senior Day, the contest against the St. Andrews University Knights had critical Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) implications on the line. A win for the Bulldogs would guarantee at-least a share of the AAC Regular Season Title.

TWU owned the offense early on in the first half, taking seven shots and forcing six corner kicks. The team saw the shots come from the combination of Dave Neijenhuis, Dylan Connell, Jarimyah Cook, and Wynand Wessels. Unfortunately, no of the shots found their way into the net. The defense did not allow St. Andrews to score in the first half, sending the game into halftime in a scoreless tie.

The score did not change until the 67th minute of play. The moment of time saw disaster occur for the Bulldogs as the opponents were able to score a goal, taking a 1-0 advantage in the game. Six minutes later, another goal was scored in the game. It put Tennessee Wesleyan in a keeper hole as St. Andrews scored a second time, making the score 2-0. The home Bulldogs were not able to find two goal to tie the game as the team went on to fall by a final 2-0 score.

TWU finishes the regular season with a 9-3-5 overall record and a 9-1-3 record in the conference. The team has clinched one of the top three spots in the AAC standings but has to wait for the bracket to be announced to know their official standing.
