ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's soccer team opened the 2025 season on Saturday. The team was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling to the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks 4-0.
The deficit for the Bulldogs occurred early in the first half as UT Southern scored in the seventh minute. A shot by Nicko Bellot just barely missed the mark, hitting the post on a free kick. Robin Vezinhet saw his shot go wide near the end of the half as TWU trailed by a goal at the halftime break.
The opponents upped their lead a minute into the second half. The Bulldogs were not able to find a way back into the game as they fell by a final score of 4-0.
Astolfi Ange had eight saves in the net.
Up next for the Bulldogs (0-1) is a home contest against Faulkner University on Thursday. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
