Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Emory Invite

Atlanta, Ga.- The men's track and field program competed in their first outdoor meet on Saturday. The team traveled to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Emory Invite, where they had a strong showing with a number of top 20 finishes and conference qualifiers.

The team had seven members qualify for the conference meet on the field side. Tevon Shuler won the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.52m to qualify for the conference meet. While finishing second in the High Jump, Shelton Milne's mark of 1.75m qualified him for the conference meet.

A mark of 12.27m in the Shot Put gave Jeremiah Sullivan 11th place in the meet and qualified the thrower for the conference meet. Tyson Thompson finished 18th in the event with a mark of 10.83. While both qualifying for the conference meet in the Discus, Thompson (35.80m) and Sullivan (34.95m) finished back-to-back, in 10th and 11th, respectively. Sullivan qualified for third event at the conference meet, this time the Hammer with his throw of 43.10m to finish seventh overall at the meet. Thompson recorded a seventh place finish in the Javelin with mark of 37.26m.

A time of 11.29 qualified Chris Harper for the conference meet in the 100m Dash while Ke'Andrae Campbell qualified for the conference meet in the 200m Dash with a time of 22.33, giving him eighth place. Cameron Williams finished 13th in the 200m Dash with a time of 22.80.

The team saw two conference qualifiers in the 400m Race. Williams (50.26, 3rd) and Roni Bailey (50.93, 6th) both qualified for the conference meet with their finishes. In the 1500m Run, Eli Cox's time of 4:13.08 qualified him for the conference meet and gave him 19thplace in the event. Daniel Greene (16:11.01, 9th) and Caleb Greene(16:19.93, 14th) qualified for the conference meet in the 5000m Race.

A time of 21.02 placed Edward Hall in 15th place in the 110m Hurdles while Michael Fuchs ran the 400m Hurdles in a time of 1:07.58 to finish in 20th.

The team returns to the track for their next meet on Saturday at the Lee Invite.
