Greene and Rutherford Run at NAIA Cross Country National Championship Meet

Vancouver, Wash.- The men's and women's cross country programs had two runners compete in the 2021 NAIA National Cross Country Championships. One member from each program qualified for the national championship meet, held in Vancouver, Wash., on Friday.

The men's race was held first, where Daniel Greene competed in the race. In a field of 333 runners, Greene was the 281st racer to cross the finish line in the 8k race. Green completed the course in a time of 28:29. Greene ran an average of 5:44 per mile and 3:34 per kilometer, with his best kilometer being the first with a split of 3:06.

In the women's race, Tennessee Wesleyan was represented by Madison Rutherford. Competing against 340 runners, Rutherford finished in 198th. A time of 20:25 on the 5k course gave Rutherford her place on the results board. Rutherford averaged 6:35 per mile and 4:06 per kilometer. Her best kilometer was on the first with a time of 3:38. Rutherford's finish gives her the sixth-best finish in program history at a national meet.
