Men's Cross Country Opens 2022 Season at JSU Foothills Invitational
Oxford, Ala.- The men's cross country team had their first meet of the 2022 season on Friday. The team competed at the JSU Foothills Invitational, a meet hosted by NCAA Division I school Jacksonville State University. The meet consisted of multiple NCAA schools from all divisions as well as NAIA schools. The course was a 5k race instead of the usual 8k.
The top individual finisher for the Bulldogs was Daniel Greene, who completed the course in a time of 16:41. Caleb Greene was the next runner to finish for TWU, running a time of 17:27 for 79th place. Payt Bussey was not too far behind, finishing in 82nd place with a time of 17:30. A time of 18:16 gave Zane Marlow 109th place on the board while Major Frerichs was 125th in a time of 18:48.
Rounding out the Bulldogs in the field were Conner Craig (18:58) and Jordan Allen (19:04). The duo finished back-to-back of each other in 129th and 130th, respectively.
As a team, Tennessee Wesleyan finished in 12th place. The team had a total time of 1:28:42 and 332 points.
The next race for the team is set for Sept. 23 at the Queen City Invite in Charlotte, N.C.
