Men's Cross Country Runs to Sixth Place Finish at Queen City Invite

Charlotte, N.C.- The men's cross country team ran in their second race of the 2022 season on Friday. The team ran in the Queen City Invite, a meet held in Charlotte, N.C., hosted by the Queens University of Charlotte. The race consisted of 139 runners and 17 teams.

Payt Bussey had the highest finish of the team, running the 8K distance in a time of 27:11 for 15th place. Back-to-back finishes saw Caleb Greene (27:30) and Daniel Greene (27:31) finish 23rd and 24th, respectively. Mack Alas gave the Bulldogs a fourth runner in the top 30, finishing in 29th with a time of 27:43.

A time of 29:13 made Zane Marlow the 52nd fastest person in the race while Conner Craig finished 58th in the race with a time of 29:30. Major Frerichs completed the course in a time of 29:59 for 68th place and Jordan Allen rounded out the TWU runners on the course, finishing in 83rd in a time of 30:56.

As a team, the Bulldogs finished sixth overall in the 17-team field. The team scored 135 points between their top five finishers and had a total time of 2:19:08.

Bussey and Alas both set new collegiate personal records with their times in the race.

Tennessee Wesleyan will return back to Charlotte in two weeks for the Royals XC Challenge on Oct. 7.
