Men's Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The men's cross country team competed at one of the prominent cross country meets in the southeast, the Southern Showcase. The meet, hosted by NCAA Division I school Jacksonville State University, featured 32 teams from every collegiate level, NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCCA. The race consisted of 303 runners.

Mack Alas had the fastest finish on the team, running the 8000m Race in a time of 26:48.40 to finish in 158th place. Eli Cox was the next Bulldog to cross the finish line, running the course at the John Hunt Cross Country Park in a time of 27:16.10 to finish 183rd. Caleb Greene crossed the finish line in a time of 27:31.80 to be the 197th person to cross the finish line while Zane Marlow was 217th in a time of 28:04.30. 

A time of 28:25.20 gave Adrian Nelka-Hernandez the 222nd spot on the board. Ray Richardson (28:25.20) and Tyler Bowers (28:32.50) finished back-to-back in the race in 225th and 226th, respectively. Jack Headrick completed the course in a time of 28:37.80, making him two spots behind Bowers in 228th place. Times of 28:58.90 and 29:31.80 place Conner Craig and Charlie Wilson in 238th place and 243th place, respectively. 

As a team, the Bulldogs finished in the top 25 of the field, placing 24th with 747 points. 

TWU will compete at the end of the month when they run at the Covenant College Mountain Stride on Sept. 30.
