Softball Unable to Gain Traction Against Brenau

Athens, Tenn.- The softball team, fresh off a sweep the previous day, returned to the softball diamond at Athens Regional Park for another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader on Tuesday. Coming to the field to take on the Lady Bulldogs were the Brenau University Golden Tigers.

Game One:

Pitching and defense were featured in the first game as only three runs were scored between the two teams. The runs did not occur until the sixth inning. Unfortuantely for TWU, two of the three runs were scored by Brenau.

In the bottom of the sixth, the team got one of the runs back. Caroline Moore opened with a single and moved to second on a groundout. Moore scored from second on Taylor Penning's single up the middle to make the score 2-1. It would be the only run of the game for the Lady Bulldogs.

Cheyenne Strong finished with eight strikeouts.

Game Two:

In the second game, offense was more featured. This game in the softball diamond did not treat Tennessee Wesleyan well though as Brenau scored eight runs in the game, forcing the game to end early due to the run rule.

The schedule sends the Lady Bulldogs (20-11, 16-6 AAC) on the road for the final time on Wednesday. The team travels to face Montreat College in a conference series. The doubleheader is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
