Phillips Nabs AAC Softball Player of the Week Award

WALESKA, Ga.- For the second time this season, Bailee Phillips was named a weekly award winner by the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). This time though, Phillips took home the Player of the Week award for softball. Phillips was named the AAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, February 27. The fourth edition of the weekly award in 2024 was announced on Monday.

In the road series against Bluefield University last week, the junior had a rare day at the plate. In the first game of the doubleheader, Phillips was a perfect 3-3 from the plate with all three hits being home runs. Phillips finished with five RBIs in the game and a 4.000 slugging percentage. In the second game, where she also pitched, the Soddy Daisy, Tenn., native went 3-4 from the plate with two doubles and two more RBIs. Phillips finished with a .857 batting average and a 2.249 slugging percentage combined through the two games, with six hits in seven at-bats, four runs scored, three home runs, and seven RBIs. In her pitching effort in the second game, Phillips pitched all seven innings while striking out nine batters in a 7-0 win.

This is the second weekly award for Phillips. The next edition of the award will be announced on Monday, March 18.
