Women's Golf Finishes One Stroke Behind First Place; Hassall Wins Individual Title

Niota, Tenn.- The women's golf team returned to the links on Monday and Tuesday. The team hosted the TWU Spring Invitational at Springbrook Golf and Country Club. The tournament was played on a Par 72 course and consisted of two rounds.

Monday

On the individual scoreboard, Maisie Hassall had the highest finish on the team, carding a score of 78 to be tied for fourth. Cora Mount gave the team to golfers in the top ten, finishing tied for 10th with a score of 81. Bevin Harrill and Olivia Sargla, playing as individuals, both shot 83 to be tied for 12th. June Greene, playing as an individual, and Madison Atchley both finished tied for 24th with a score of 86.

A score of 87 placed Morgan Satterfield in 26th while Ann Sofie Madsen was tied for 29th with a score of 88. The final individual in the event for TWU, Carlee McLemore, shot a 98 to be in 38th place.

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs had a team score of 332, placing them in fifth place.

Tuesday

By the end of the round on Tuesday, Hassall held the top spot after shooting a 77 in the second to total 155 through the two rounds. Hassall won by one stroke. Harrill moved up one spot by shooting 82, finishing in sole possession of 11th place with a total of 165. Scores of 166 and 167 saw Mount (85) and Satterfield (80) finish back-to-back in ties for 12th and 14th, respectively.

Sargla's score of 85 for a two-round total of 168 and Greene's total of 169 after a round of 83 placed them back-to-back also in ties for 19th and 21st, respectively. Madsen finished in a tie for 23rd with a score of 83 making her total 171. Atchley copied her first round score of 86 to finish with a two-round score of 172 to finish in 26th place. McLemore shot 101 in the second round to finish with a two-round score of 199, placing her in 38th place.

The next event for the team is the AAC Championship and NAIA Direct Qualifier. The tournament is set for April 17-18 in Link Hills Country Club, Greeneville, Tenn.
