Women's Golf Opens Spring Season with Third Place Finish

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C.- The women's golf team played their first tournament of the spring season on Monday and Tuesday. The first tournament for the team took place at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational at the Lion's Paw in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. The tournament consisted of two rounds.

Monday:

Two members of the women's golf were in the top five after the first round. Cora Mount had the best score on the team with a score of 77 to be tied for seventh. Morgan Satterfield was tied for fourth after shooting 78 on the Par 72 course. A score of 82 placed Madison Atchley in a tie for 18th while Ann Sofie Madsen was tied for 39th after carding a 89. Olivia Sargla finished the round with a score of 95 to be tied in 56th place. 

As a team, Tennessee Wesleyan had a score of 326, placing them in third place in the 13-team field. 

Tuesday:

Satterfield used a score of 77 to move a spot up the scoreboard to finish in third place with a two-round total of 155. Mount finished the tournament in a tie for fifth place, shooting an 81 to finish the two rounds with a score of 158, giving the team two top five finishers. Atchley made it three in the top 20, shooting an 84 to finish in a tie for 19th with a two-round total of 166. Madsen was in sole possession of 32nd, moving up two spots with a score of 85 in the round and 174 for the tournament. Sargla saw her finishing position on the leaderboard move up 18 spots after carding an 85 in the second round, finishing the tournament with a score of 180 and a tie for 38th place. 

The team finished tied for third on the team scoreboard, finishing with 653 strokes after shooting 327 in the second round.

TWU will be back in action March 23-24 at the Klash in Kentucky at the Perry Park Golf Resort in Perry Park, Ky.
