Women's Lacrosse Runs Away From Brenau

By the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs had blitzed out to an 8-1 advantage. Olivia Downey took a pass from Annalise Vigilante and turned it into the first goal of the game. Mac Alexander and Kate Buchannan scored the next two goals to make the score 3-0. Breanu broke the streak of goals. Five straight goals by TWU ended the quarter and gave the team their seven-goal advantage. Alexander of the first of the five goals and Kylie Heinrich followed with two goals, one off a Vigilante assist and the second off a free-position shot. Olivia Ritter scored off an Alexander assist and Downey scored on another Vigilante assist to give the team their seven-goal lead. 

The opponents opened the scoring in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs scored the remaining goals of the half. Jozlyn Long scored the first goal for the team off an Alexander assist. Vigilante put the team in double digits off a Ritter assist. Alexander would score the next goal and Stephanie Rocha gave the team a double-digit advantage with the scoreboard reading 12-2. Hannah Housley and Long gave the team a 14-2 advantage at the halftime buzzer with their goals. 

The scoring was even in the third quarter as each team scored two goals. Vigilante was the first to score, turning a Downey pass into the 15th goal of the game. Alexander scored the other goal of the third quarter for the Lady Bulldogs and the team held a 16-4 lead after the third quarter. 

Tennessee Wesleyan was the only team to score in the fourth quarter. Letty Karlsen got in on the scoring, taking a pass from Vigilante for the first goal of the game. Vigilante was the next scorer, converting a free-position shot into a goal. Jacie Trejo scored on a Savannah Stull assist and Abi Weed gave the team their 20th goal of the game. Rocha scored once more in the game, using Hallie Huffman's pass to help the team win the game 21-4. 

Alexander led the team with four goals in the game while Vigilante led with four assists in the game. Sarah Lynn Northrop got the win in the net.  

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs officially clinched a spot in the AAC Tournament, marking the first appearance in the tournament since the 2019 season.  

TWU (2-9, 2-3 AAC) play their next two games in Athens, beginning with a conference game against No. 5 University of the Cumberlands. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
