Women's Lacrosse Falls to Webber International

BABSON PARK, Fla.- The women's lacrosse team played the first of four straight road games on Thursday. The first two games will be played in Florida, with this game being against the Webber International University Lady Warriors.

After falling behind 2-0, the Lady Bulldogs scored three straight goals. Kate Buchannan scored the first goal on a free position shot while Hannah O'Daniel tied the game with her game. Buchannan scored the next goal also, giving the team a 3-2 lead. The momentum did not carry for TWU as Webber International scored six consecutive goals to end the first quarter with an 8-3 lead.

The opponents opened the second quarter with three goals to extend their lead to 11-3. Olivia Downey got the Lady Bulldogs back in the scoring, taking a pass from Buchannan and slinging it into the net. Webber International did not let the Tennessee Wesleyan score again before halftime though, scoring three goals of their own to lead 14-4 at the break.

The third quarter saw Webber International score the first two goals of the second half. Kate Buchannan scored for a third time in the game as the team looked to come back from the deficit they were facing. Webber International scored once more in the third quarter to make the hole bigger for the Lady Bulldogs.

Buchannan scored for a fourth time in the game, scoring 46 seconds into the fourth quarter to bring the team closer to the lead. The team scored one more in the game though as Jozlyn Long blasted a ball into the net as the comeback fell short with the opponents winning the game by a final score of 20-7.

Buchannan's four goals in the game were a career-high. Rylee Brendling had 12 saves.

TWU (1-4) will be back in action in Florida on Saturday when they face Warner University. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
