Women's Lacrosse Ends Season at AAC Tournament

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.- The women's lacrosse team played in the conference tournament for the second consecutive season. Their first game in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament occurred on Thursday. Tennessee Wesleyan was the No. 5 seed in the tournament and opened play against the No. 4 seed, the Georgetown College Lady Tigers.

Through the first four minutes of the game, the Lady Bulldogs led. Olivia Downey tied the game 1-1 while a goal by Stephanie Rocha put the game in a 2-2 tie. Kate Buchanan gave the team the lead with her goal, moving the score 3-2. The momentum changed though as Georgetown scored the next eight goals to take a 10-3 lead.

Downey scored back-to-back goals off Kylie Heinrich assists to cut the deficit in half. The opponents scored three more goals before Heinrich scored two consecutive goals but the Lady Bulldogs went into the halftime break trailing 15-7.

The second half saw TWU only score one more time. The lone goal for the team opened the third quarter and was scored by Downey. The final score read 20-8.

The season ends with the Lady Bulldogs having a 4-12 overall record and a 2-4 AAC record.
