Women's Soccer Wallops St. Andrews on Senior Day

ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's soccer team ended the regular season with a blast on Saturday. The team hosted the St. Andrews University Lady Knights for their Senior Day contest. A win against the visitors would official clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming AAC Tournament.

The flood gates opened in the 20th minute of the game. TWU scored six goals in a span of 24 minutes beginning in the 20th minute with Krista Eik Hardardottir's goal. Alexandra Machado scored two minutes later and Anna-Lena Strauss scored in the 26th minute to make the lead 3-0. Hardardottir and Strauss scored each scored once more two minutes apart of each other, and Jenna Gibson moved the lead to 6-0 with 29 seconds remaining before halftime. The team led 6-0 at the halftime break.

Within a minute of each other, Hardardottir and Strauss both completed hat tricks. Hardardottir captured the feat first with the opening goal of the second goal in the 52nd minute. Less than a minute later, Strauss joined the hat trick club with her goal, moving the score 8-0. The commanding lead moved to nine goals when Marte Stokseth scored in the 63rd minute. Cristina Escrig scored the final goal of the game in the 75th minute, helping the Lady Bulldogs complete the contest with a 10-0 win and clinch the second seed in the AAC Tournament.

Addison Smith, Strauss, Machado, Maggie Aird, Jamie York, Malene Duus, and Valerie Koopman all had assists in the win. Livia Zimmerman got the win in the net while splitting time with Ashbey Self

Up next for Tennessee Wesleyan (14-1-1, 13-1) is the AAC Tournament. The team will play winner of No. 7 seed Milligan University and No. 10 seed Pikeville University on Saturday, Nov. 4.
