Volleyball Falls on Road Against Montreat

Black Mountain, N.C.- The schedule for the volleyball team took the Lady Bulldogs on the road on Tuesday. The team traveled to take on the Montreat College Lady Cavaliers.

Kills from Amya Sutton and Kamari Jackson tied the first set 2-2 in the early minutes. Montreat broke the tie with six straight points to move ahead 8-2. Madison Coffey knocked down a kill to bring Tennessee Wesleyan back within three points of the lead before a run by the opponents pushed them ahead 16-8. The team was not able to change the lead in their favor, falling in the first set 25-15.

In the second set, Sutton recorded a kill that made the score 5-5. After seeing Montreat take the lead, a service ace by Olivia Miller completed a 6-1 scoring rally that helped the team cut the lead to one point. The team could not carry the momentum though as Montreat moved their lead out further and went on to take the set 25-17.

A Shante Smith service ace gave the Lady Bulldogs a 4-3 lead early in the third set. The score remained close over the next few points and a service ace by Sutton moved the team's lead to 10-8. TWU continued to hold on to the advantage, leading 15-14 after a Megan Lee kill. The back-and-forth action continued though as Sutton put the match in a 23-23 tie. The opponents broke the tie, scoring two straight points to take the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

Sutton led the team with 12 kills in the match.
