Women's Cross Country Places Fourth at Queen City Invite

Charlotte, N.C.- The women's cross country team ran in their second race of the 2022 season on Friday. The team ran in the Queen City Invite, a meet held in Charlotte, N.C., hosted by the Queens University of Charlotte. The race consisted of 111 runners and 16 teams.

Tennessee Wesleyan saw two runners finish back-to-back in the top 20 on the 5K course. Victoria Verrans (20:48) finished 17th overall while Molly Woodby (20:49) finished 18th overall. A time of 21:11 placed Ashlynne Brown in 26th place. Madison Rooker ran the distance in a time of 21:54 to finish in 39th place.

Ashley Ratliff's time of 23:16 just missed being in the top 50 as she placed 51st. Sarah Laurence used a time of 23:33 to finish in 55th place to go along with back-to-back finishes by Tori McLemore (24:53, 67th) and Kayla Lynch (24:57, 68th). Ashlee Caron rounded out the Lady Bulldogs in the race with an 83rd-place finish in a time of 26:10.

On the team scoreboard, TWU finished fourth overall with 131 points between their top five runners. The team had a total time of 1:47:58.

Woodby, Brown, and Laurence all set new collegiate personal best times.

The schedule returns the Lady Bulldogs back to Charlotte in two weeks for the Royals XC Challenge on Oct. 7.
