Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth for Second Consecutive Meet

Charlotte, N.C.- A return to Charlotte, N.C., is where the 2022 schedule sent the women's cross country team. TWU was in the city two weeks ago for a meet and was back on Friday for a meet, the Royals XC Challenge. The meet was hosted by the Queens University of Charlotte.

Crossing the finish line first for the Lady Bulldogs was Abigail Hampton, running the 5K course in a time of 20:45 for 24th place. Molly Woodby gave the team two finishers in the top 30, placing 28th in a time of 20:52. A time of 21:14 placed Victoria Verran in 43rd place while Ashlynne Brown's time of 21:44 was the 59th fastest time.

Madison Rooker crossed the finish line in a time of 22:07 to finish 73rd overall. Finishing just out of the top 100 was Ashley Ratliff, finishing 101st with a time of 23:13. Coming in a few spots later at 107 with a time of 23:37 was Sarah Laurence. Kayla Lynch ran a time of 24:34 to place 130 in the race to go along with a 133rd place finish by Ashlee Caron to place 133rd. Tori McLemore rounded out the Tennessee Wesleyan runners in the race, finishing in 146th place with a time of 25:49.

Caron, Lynch, and Ratliff set new personal records with their results in the race.

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs finished fourth overall out of 26 teams with 183 points. The team's average time was 21:20 and their total time was 1:46:44.

The team will return to action on Friday, Oct. 21 at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn.
