Women's Cross Country Prepares for AAC Championships at NAIA Appalachian Challenge

Knoxville, Tenn.- The women's cross country team ran their final race of the regular season on Friday. The team competed in the NAIA Appalachian Challenge, a meet they hosted in Sequoyah Park in Knoxville, Tenn.

Abigail Hampton and Molly Woodby finished back-to-back of each other in the 5K race. Hampton (20:19) and Woodby (20:22) finished 53rd and 54th, respectively. Ashlynne Brown was the next Tennessee Wesleyan runner to finish the race, completing the race in a time of 21:39 for 85th place. Madison Rooker was a few spots behind Brown, finishing in 88th place with a time of 22:09.

A time of Victoria Verran placed her two spots behind Rooker in 90th place. Ashley Ratliff ran a time of 23:15 to finish in 97h place while Ashlee Caron was the 100th runner to cross the finish line, finishing in a time of 24:00. Kayla Lynch finished 103rd with a time of 24:06 to go along with a 107th place by Sarah Laurence in a time of 24:30. Tori McLemore closed out the team's runner in the race, finishing 114th with a time of 25:52.

The team finished in 10th place with 256 points, holding a total time of 1:47:02 and an average time of 21:24 among their top five.

Woodby, Ratliff, Caron, and Lynch all hit new personal records with their finishing times.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship Meet. The race for a championship is set for November 4 in Columbia, S.C.
