Women's Cross Country Records Sixth-Place Finish at AAC Championships

Columbia, S.C.- The women's cross country traveled to Columbia, S.C., for a chance at a championship Friday. The schedule had the team competing at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships for a chance for a conference championship and a trip to the national meet.

Abigail Hampton was the first runner for the Lady Bulldogs to cross the finish line, running the 5K course in a time of 20:14 for 31st place. Molly Woodby was also in the top 40 of the individual leaderboard, with a 37th-place finish in a time of 20:26. Ashlynne Brown's time of 21:09 made her the 48th runner to cross the finish line in the race.

Madison Rooker (22:17.2) and Victoria Verran (22:17.4) finished back-to-back of each other in 59th and 60th place, respectively. A time of 22:57 gave Ashlee Caron 66th place on the scoreboard while Sarah Laurence finished 69th with a time of 23:18. Rounding the runners in the field for TWU was Ashley Ratliff (23:57, 74th) and Tori McLemore (24:43, 83rd).

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs finished sixth after combining the results of their top five runners. The team had 177 points, a total time of 1:46:25, and an average time of 21:17.

Brown, Caron, Laurence, and McLemore all set new personal records with their times in the race.

Unfortunately for the team, a runner did not qualify for the NAIA National Meet, meaning the end of the cross country season.
