Sterner Announces Departure from Assistant Baseball Coaching Position

ATHENS, Tenn.- After five seasons as a member of the baseball coaching staff, assistant coach Zack Sterner has announced his resignation to spend more time with his family. Sterner served as the pitching coach for the program.

"I want to thank Coach Berry for the opportunity to continue my passion for baseball at an elite level and most importantly his mentorship he has given me not only as a baseball coach but also as a husband and a father. I am extremely grateful for that; it is time for me to focus on my family and give my sons the opportunity and passion for baseball as it has been a great path for me," stated Sterner.

During Sterner's tenure, the Bulldogs' pitching staff was a dominant force on the mound. He was instrumental in developing a pitching staff that helped lead the Bulldogs to three Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Regular Season Championships and three AAC Tournament Championships, as well as, four NAIA Opening Round Appearances and two Avista-NAIA World Series berths. Head Coach Billy Berry stated, "I'm extremely proud to have worked alongside Coach Sterner for the last five seasons. Not only was he a great player for the Bulldog program, but he came back and excelled as a coach to continue the winning tradition. I will miss him, but I'm also proud that he has made the decision based on his family. I wish the Sterner family all the best as they move forward."
