MARION, N.C.- The baseball team, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, finished the series against the Montreat College Cavaliers on Friday. The team fell late in the AAC series finale 9-8.

TWU scored six runs in the first inning. Josh Shelly started the scoring. Shelly got on base with a single and quickly moved to third after a stolen base and wild pitch. Shelly scored on Devin Dixon's single. Dixon followed the same route as Shelly, scoring on a double by Daniel Stewart. With courtsey-runner Jonathan Bosque and Jack Stevens on base, Edwin Toribio came to the plate and blasted a ball over the wall, moving the lead to 5-0. Corbin Shaw became the final run of the inning, scoring on a Shelly single to give the team a 6-0 lead.

Chris Catalano put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0 in the second inning as his single gave Stevens the chance to score his second run of the game. Cody McGill gave the team eight runs in the game after scoring on Stewart's single. The game did not end well for the Bulldogs though as Montreat scored nine unanswered runs to win the game.

Toribio led the team with three RBIs.
