Baseball Sweeps AAC Weekly Awards

WALESKA, Ga.- Tennessee Wesleyan swept the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball weekly awards for the third time this season on Monday. For a second time this season, Blake Peyton was named the Pitcher of the Week and Josh Shelly was named the Player of the Week. 

Peyton took home the Pitcher of the Week award based on his pitching performance against St. Andrews University. In a 16-0 win for the Bulldogs, the senior pitched five scoreless innings in picking up the win. The San Diego, Calif., native struck out 12 batters, his second game with 12 strikeouts.

Shelly batted .500 in four games for the Bulldogs. Shelly was 8-16 in the four games, hitting three doubles, a triple, and three home runs for 10 RBIs. The junior hit two home runs in the 16-0 win against St. Andrews, picking up five of his RBIs in the process. The Houma, La., native had a 1.375 slugging percentage.
