Cheerleading Tryouts for 2017-2018 Season

Saturday, March 25th: 8:30 am

Each contestant should wear black or blue shorts, a white top, cheer shoes/tennis shoes, and their hair must be pulled completely back/out of face. No Jewelry except post earrings will be allowed, including fitness watches. Judging will be based on appearance, execution, stage presence (spirit/confidence), overall technique, jumps, stunting, and tumbling (tumbling will be scored, but not required). All material will be taught the morning of tryouts before judging begins. Everyone will learn a cheer and dance to perform as a group. Then, all contestants will be given the same words to a chant which they must make their own motions to perform for their individual tryout as well as jumps (toe-touch and one additional jump of choice). Results will be posted that same day, and there will be a mandatory meeting for all members of the 2017-2018 team following the results.

Sunday, March 19th: 3-6 pm

The TWU Gymnasium will be open to all perspecitve cheerleaders for the 2017-2018 season, including current TWU students and any high school seniors. Athletic attire should be worn. This is not a mandatory meeting to participate in tryouts, but is highly encouraged. Students should bring a photo ID, insurance card(s), and if they are under 18 a parent must be present to sign a liability waiver.
