Men's Basketball Falls to Reinhardt

Waleska, Ga.- The schedule took the men's basketball team on the road on Saturday. The team's first road game of the 2023 portion of the schedule came against the Reinhardt University Eagles.

Reinhardt scored the first points of the game. A three-point play by Patterson put the game in a 3-3 tie. Elisha Mayberry's dunk made the score 6-5 in favor of the opponents and soon the game became tied again at 10-10 after a Peyton West layup and Ray Tyler's three-pointer. The score became tied for a fourth time at 12-12 on a Patterson layup. Reinhardt broke the tie, scoring 11 of the next 14 points to take a 23-15 lead. Mayberry and Tyler knocked down three-pointers to bring the team back within four points of the lead, a 25-21 score, but the Eagles went on another scoring spree to move ahead 34-23. With 2:35 remaining in the first, points from Patterson, Tyler, and Kobe Pride helped the team cut the double-digit lead down to five points. Reinhardt scored the final seven points of the half though, taking a 42-30 advantage into halftime.

As points from Pride, Patterson, and Mayberry came early in the second half, they were matched by Reinhardt, who led 48-35 with 17:31 remaining in the game. Darius Rozier got in on the scoring efforts with a free throw, and along with a free throw from Patterson and a West jumper, the score moved to 51-39. The team continued to fight as a jumper from Pride and a pair of free throws by Zhaelin Callahan made the score 60-44 in favor of Reinhardt. The offense went through some droughts in the second half, and points from Emmanuel Ndambi, Kolbe Billingsley, and Luke Burrows were not enough to help the team come back, falling in the game 86-63.

Patterson led the Bulldogs with 13 points.

TWU (10-3, 9-3 AAC) will be back in action on Wednesday when they host rival Bryan College. The game in James L. Robb Gymnasium is set for 7:30 p.m.
