Men's Basketball Falls in Regular Season Finale

Athens, Tenn.- The men's basketball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday. The team hosted the Reinhardt University Eagles in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game for their regular season finale.

Elisha Mayberry (free throw, three-pointer) and Jonathan Webb (layup, three-pointer) helped TWU lead 9-7 early in the game. Reinhardt scored the next 12 points though to take a double-digit lead. Webb broke the scoring drought with a three-point jump shot, moving the deficit to single digits. Ty Patterson and Webb hit two more three-point baskets to cut the opponents' lead down to six points. Darius Rozier brought the score within six points again and with 2:18 remaining, back-to-back scores by Kobe Pride and Patterson cut the deficit to three, a 27-24 score. Reinhardt scored the next for points to look like they would take a seven-point lead into halftime but Mayberry hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score 31-27 at the break.

Out of the halftime break, Kolbe Billingsley knocked two three-point baskets, placing the game in a 33-33 tie. The opponents broke the tie, scoring 13 of the next 17 points to pull ahead 46-37. With 7:55 remaining, the Bulldogs rallied with eight straight points to cut the deficit to one point with the scoreboard reading 46-45. The team cut the deficit down to one point one more time but the team was not able to pull closer, going on to fall by a final score of 59-48.

Webb led the offense with 14 points in the game.

Tennessee Wesleyan finishes the season with a 15-10 overall record and a 14-10 AAC record. Up next for the team is the AAC Tournament on Thursday.
