
Men's Basketball Has Nine Win AAC Awards
WALESKA, Ga.- The year-end awards for men's basketball were announced by the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Tuesday. Nine student-athletes earned honors.
Ty Hurst was named to the All-AAC Second Team. Hurst a starter in all 25 games, led the team with 15.1 points per game, and a total of 407 points this season. Hurst scored in double-digits in 20 of the 25 games.
Jay Reed was named to the All-Defensive Team. Reed led the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. Reed was 10th in the conference in rebounds. Reed led the team with 129 defensive rebounds and 27 steals.
Reshaun Hampton was named to the All-Freshman Team. Hampton finished eighth in the conference in three-point percentage, shooting 41.8 from the field. Hampton, who played in 24 games this season, averaged 7.8 points per game.
The team's representative on the AAC Champions of Character Team was Peyton West. To be named to the Champions of Character Team, a player must exhibit the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
Eight student-athletes were named to the AAC All-Academic Team, the second-most in the conference. Zhaelin Callahan, Kariden Hardrick, Stratton Lovvorn, Charles Neverdon, West, and Amauri Young all earned a spot on the AAC All-Academic Team. To be selected to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore in academic standing and maintain a 3.25 grade-point average.
